The Forges de Niaux drill opener blades are more affordable than John Deere’s Bellota blades, and they are of equal or higher quality.
For years now, we’ve recommended the Ingersoll opener blade for no till drills, and we still sell these. But we’ve found that the Forges de Niaux 200 blade takes performance to a new level, and we consider it the best of the best.
These drill opener blades will improve soil penetration and reduce hairpinning (residue getting tucked into the seed furrow). In no till farming, it’s critical that your blade stays sharp in order to cut through straw and stalks, and the Forges de Niaux 200 – made from a different steel than other opener blades – stays sharper longer.
The Niaux 200 opener blades are the same dimension as the OEM (18 inches), which is critical. Some aftermarket drill opener blades are larger than 18 inches, which causes two problems. First, larger drill opener blades create more hairpinning. And secondly, larger drill opener blades can create gaps that allows more seeds to escape.
