Based in Williamsburg, Iowa, Kinze manufactures planters that can be modified and improved for no till farming as some Kinze parts wear out quickly and are not optimally designed.
The Kinze closing wheels are very smooth, which makes it difficult to shatter the sidewall properly. They also overpack the furrow in no till conditions, especially when soils are damp. Our Thompson closing wheels have thin spokes for excellent crumbling of the sidewall. Thompson spoked closing wheels are light-weight, with self-limiting depth, to avoid packing over the seed.
Our Thompson closing wheels fit the following Kinze planters:
When using a spoked closing wheel like our Thompson, it is crucial to use an in-furrow firming device such as a Keeton seed firmer or Flo-Rite. However, these devices on their own are not enough, applying under 2 pounds of pressure. Plus Keetons often lose tension very quickly. The Mojo wire applies 3 – 5 times more pressure than a Keeton alone. Our customers are often amazed by the higher number of seeds emerging, which leads to higher yields.
The Mojo wires from Exapta fit the following Kinze planters:
Tired of replacing your worn out factory guards every season? Our chrome alloy Valion seed tube guard has 2 – 5 times the wear life of OEM guards. We also make the Valion Ultra seed tube guard for lifetime durability. Exapta’s guards greatly reduce blade flex to create a correctly shaped furrow and give you more planting depth control.
The Valion Seed Tube Guards are compatible with these Kinze planters:
